Yes. About depression. Why do people get depressed? Easy. Sin consciousness. Consciousness of one own's sin results in wallowing in self-pity. It makes you feel unwanted. Makes you feel unsecure. Makes you feel unhappy. Makes you feel depressed.
HEY!
Good news. Many people heard of it. But do they understand it?
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. "
What does that mean? Yes. You're saved by not what you do. But you are saved by His finished work. What does that mean. YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO A SINGLE THING! Whee. Wahoo. That IS the good news. You don't have to force yourself to not smoke, to not gamble, to not have pre-marital sex, to not sin, to not do bad things. Because when He comes into you, (when you believe in Jesus Christ and His finished work he comes into you) you will be changed by Him, slowly but surely, part. By part.
What is His finished work by the way? His finished work is that of dying on the cross. He died for all your sins, and He was punished for all your sins. He was perfect, but you are not. (For if you are perfect like God, then how can God be perfect?) Now, if you believe in Him, that he died for ALL your sins (that means you have none, no sin to be punished for anymore) you will be set FREE! Set free from all the sins, of bad things, of wrong-doings, because He has been punished for your sins. You are free now! And He will come into your life because your life is now empty of sins, thus can be filled by God, perfect God, and you will change, slowly, into Christ-likeness. It's like dropping some soap into a bucket of oily water. The oil(sin) moves away automatically. You don't have to do a single thing! When God comes into your life, you will change because of HIM! Not you. It's not dependant on you. It's Him. Him.
That means, YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO A SINGLE THING BUT BELIEVE! WAHOO! HOW GOOD CAN THAT BE! Haha. That's why it's called the good news.
And why should you go to church? Because the world is too filled with sin and temptation. It's filled with darkness. If you don't go to church, you may sometimes be to drawn away from the light, you will be drawn away from God and God's word. Well, what you should do is to read the bible and go to church and talk to God. Not because it's a law. Not because if you don't do it you will go to hell. But because doing that brings you closer to Jesus Christ.
John 14:6Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
And why do you want to be closer to Jesus Christ? Because He is THE way to heaven. He IS the truth. And he IS the life. Stress kills you. Jesus Christ gives you life! Life! The world gives you stress which kills you. Going to church and reading the bible and talking to God builds a relationship with you and God. And God. Gives. You. LIFE! LIFE! WAHOO! I am going to stop dying. How? I commit my life to the Lord. Why? Because it's not mine! He paid for it haha. And God is good. So...my life. Will. Be. Good!
Two things to do:
1)Believe in God's finished work.
2)Trust in the Lord in EVERYTHING!
What does number two mean? It means we shall do nothing in our own strength, we shall do nothing out of our own effort. We should rely on His strength for He is good. When you are drowning and someone is trying to save you, will struggling and using your own strength work? Will it help? No, but instead it is harder for the person who is trying to save you to save you because you are struggling and flailing all over. God is going to save you from this drowning waters of sin, of lies, of this world which is full of death. First, you must stop struggling. Trust in Him. He will change you. His hand is the biggest hand in the whole of the universe. If He covers you, you are covered. If he lifts you up, no one can bring you down. Do please, trust in God?
Haha.
How to cure depression?
Trust in God.
~I've been through depression before.
I trusted in God.
God saved me from depression.
I am now what I am now...
Because of God.
God loves you.
Amen.
